Cherrie Dowling – Service Co-ordinator
Cherrie Dowling is the founder of Horses In Mind. Working as a teacher aide for 15 years in mainstream and special needs, she saw an opportunity to combine her passions for teaching children and horses. In 2014, Cherrie left her job to dedicate herself to Horses In Mind full time. Cherrie is a firm believer in the therapeutic value of horses, and the importance of providing affordable opportunities for young people to get to know these beautiful animals. She loves seeing people of all ages and abilities come together to share in the joy of horses.
Stef Rendalls – Assistant Coordinator
Stef has been an animal lover as long as she can remember, though there has always been a special place in her heart for horses. A Brisbane local, Stef has a background in Naturopathy (Bhsc Nat) and several years of experience in caring for animals great and small, both professionally and personally.
Learning to ride, train and care for horses as a shy, young girl taught Stef to be assertive, thoughtful and confident, and it is her passion to pass on these invaluable life lessons to everyone who comes to Horses In Mind.
Emily McDonald – Tutor
Emily has been riding for 13 years, and has trained in show jumping, cross country and dressage. As well as working at Horses In Mind on weekends, she studies Veterinary Science full time at UQ. In her spare time, Emily lends her expertise to training Willow. Emily’s favourite thing about teaching is seeing the kids’ excitement when they’ve overcome a fear, or have reached one of their goals.
Madonna Caffery – Tutor
Having ridden with Cherrie since the very beginnings of Horses In Mind, early this year Madonna became our youngest riding tutor at the age of 17. She loves all aspects of horses and riding, and enjoys the opportunity to pass on her passion to others. Madonna is excited to see where her future working with horses and Horses In Mind takes her.
